City Escape Stranded eBook Theresa Shaver

I read all four books of this series in less then a week. I'm definitely sleep deprived but this was my favorite of all the books. Even though the part about Disneyland wasn't accurate, it was fun to read and imagine holing up there. In fact that's what made me want to read this series in the first place was that the disaster happened while they were in Disneyland.
I also really liked that in this one characters aren't one dimensional, not all bad or all good. The one problem is I felt the end was rushed, like okay now were in Canada annnnd were done. Slightly disappointing, but mostly I loved it and the whole series.

City Escape Stranded eBook Theresa Shaver Reviews

I love this series, but this book wasn't one the author planned to write - she did it because so many readers wanted it, and it shows. The book is fine, but it just doesn't feel like the writer has the passion for the story that shows in other books in the series.

And I'm still not OK with putting tunnels in Disneyland. The author defends it as "literary license", but for anyone who knows Disney well, that's like putting the Kremlin in DC or the Eiffel Tower in Tokyo. It's WRONG! And far worse, as a reader, it's just plain lazy writing for a story the author didn't love and wanted to finish and get out of the way.

All of that said, it does a nice job of finishing out the story.
I'm giving City Escape 4 stars but I give this entire series 5 amazing stars ! I love this author and how she writes this series ! I'm addicted ! This is one of the best books I have read for a long a time ! I can say though this last book wasn't as great as the other ones ! In the first book we learn Mrs Moore is a prepper we get to see some of her skills but not all... This group has a lot of loss but it lacked all the action the other books have. I don't know I just didn't connect with the characters like I did with Alex and Emily! Annnd I wish the author made the home coming a little bit longer ! You anticipate them finding their way home but it was just a little paragraph at the end! But you needed this side of the story to be satisfied ! Now I can not wait for Endless Winter !!!! It looks oh so good!!!! It needs to hurry up because I can't get enough of this series !!!!
City Escape is the novelized version of the previous City novella. It is much better and continues from where the first effort left off. In fact it is about the best of the series now. It's certainly the most violent. The only thing remaining might be a revision of the final volume which ended too abruptly.

I do wish the proofing had been better. There was confusion between plurals and possessives, Len became Les, 'were' was often misspelled as 'where', 'rear by' should be 'nearby' and there were a number of extra words 'had of made' for 'had made'. Even the excerpt for Endless Winter (not a sequel) had some typos 'lead' for 'led' and 'back in forth' for 'back and forth'. Nonetheless, the preview for Endless Winter made me want to get it when it comes out.

The Stranded series is outstanding, not only for YA readers but for old farts like myself who love post-apocalyptic fiction without zombies. Highly recommended.
I LOVE this authors books!! I've zipped through this series and I have to say that I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL THE NEXT BOOK SHE PUTS OUT! All of the characters in this series were very well written and the story going in 3 dif directions according to mode of travel made these books so dang interesting I had a hard time making myself put them down to do the things I was supposed to be doing. You know~ chores, eating, sleeping. Highly recommend these books!!!
It's a good read, though not literary. I like the ideas the writer comes up with for her characters to survive, and their various attitudes. The personal of the mother of one of the students is probably a bit over the top, start to finish, but I suppose there really are people like her somewhere. I'd read the "Land" book in the series and was pleased to see this addition, so we know what happened to the people who decided to stay behind in the city. As for the survival skills, I did learn a few things - who knew what might be beneath Disneyland??? Not sure if it would actually work, but the idea of either leaving right away, before most realize what's going on, or waiting for months after the event is interesting.
really enjoyed the series YA sci-fi Not too scientific for us just wanting a story. My only major complaint is the obvious ploy with the unanswered questions & sudden stop at the end of each book basically forcing you to buy the next installment. I feel to be a 5 star series, each book should be able stand alone with a beginning & end. Interest in the characters & setting will make you buy more without being forced so you can know how a single adventure ends.
i really enjoyed the series of books. i got the first one as a free download and went back to buy the rest. individual stories of groups of teens stranded thousands of miles from home at disneyland on a class trip. one group of teens heads home over land, the other grabs a boat to sail up the coast and then cross home.
This is the story of the third group who remain in the city. Despite her own strong preppers desire to return home, a teacher remains with 12 students and uncomprehending parents after an EMP blast destroys the world they know. Hiding and keeping her wards safe and fed become her goals. While the world falls apart they try to keep it together depsite some terrible people and situations that finally make the surviving members give up and head north to home.
i rated this some sexual content due to a rape, and some violence due to an ongoing undercurrent. nothing outrageous. but could be disturbing to sensitive viewers. lol.
I read all four books of this series in less then a week. I'm definitely sleep deprived but this was my favorite of all the books. Even though the part about Disneyland wasn't accurate, it was fun to read and imagine holing up there.
